Resolve11lite crashing on W8.1 in EDIT

Hello,
resolve starts and works fine in all main areas, just when switching to "edit" it crashes, no way around found.

system:
- Win8.1Pro 64bit
- 16GB RAM
- MSI MS-7751, AMI V1.11
- i5 3570K
- IGP deactivated
- AMD Radeon HD7900, 3GB, Drv: 13.251.9001.1001 by AMD

But it seems to have problem with MSVCR100.dll when crashing. Have tried it with different media, even with empty projects.

So Resolve is not a software to buy, or even use for free?

Use the resolve installed "capturelogs" app to grab a log after the crash and post a link to it here or send to your local BMD support office.

I wonder what I could have made wrong to generate this consistant error, as I doubt the gpu is out of BMs common expectations.

It looks like something is crashing related to displaying audio waveforms when you switch to the Edit page.

Please go into the View menu - User Interface Layout, and select Reset UI layout. Then switch to the Edit page, and see if it crashes. If it does not crash, open the audio meters by clicking the musical note icon in the lower right of the page, and see if that causes a crash.

If it still crashes as soon as you select the Edit page after the UI reset, start a new project, and load a single clip without audio into the Media Pool. Then switch to the Edit page. Does it crash? If not, make a timeline with that clip in it. Did that crash? If not, repeat this process, this time using a clip with embedded audio. If it crashes, please let us know where in the process it crashes.

a) step 1) V>UIL>RUIL>switch2EDIT >>> Crash.
b) Restarted, redone, re-crashed.

2) I created a new project, with a random other, smaller video file (created with iphone app), saved the prj and went through
a) step 1) V>UIL>RUIL>switch2EDIT >>> Works!
b) followed by step 2) open TL and run video >>> Works just as fine!
c) step 3) Opened AudioMixer and run video >>> Works as well, with sound display.

3) I created a new project, with one of the original files of the sequence (set of files from same camera), saved the prj and went through
a) step 1) V>UIL>RUIL>switch2EDIT >>> Works!
b) followed by step 2) open TL >>> Crashes just as fine! repeated test on same project.

4) I created a new project, with one other file of the original sequence, saved the prj and went through
a) step 1) V>UIL>RUIL >>> Works!
b) followed by step 2) open TL>switch2EDIT >>> Crashes just as fine!

5) Repeated test on identical project file from original camera copy (1st copy to desktop).
a) repeats totally experience in 4)

6) Repeated test with the smallest file (220MB, others above where 0.4-3GB .MOV) of that same camera set/sequence (work copy).
a) step 1) V>UIL>RUIL>switch2EDIT >>> Works!
b) followed by step 2) open TL in EDIT >>> Crashes just fine!

7) I created a new project, with a random other, smaller video file (22MB .MOV, created with iphone app), saved the prj and went through
a) step 1) V>UIL>RUIL>switch2EDIT >>> Works!
b) followed by step 2) open TL and run video >>> Works just as fine!
c) step 3) Opened AudioMixer and run video >>> Works as well, with sound display.

Sidenotes:
- the large files are directly from a Leica M
- the PC is not new, but for these sizes of Video my setup should not be a slouch.

What type of files are causing the crash? What is the codec shown in the Metadata area on the Media page when you select the clip? How many audio channels does it have?

Can you send us a link to the smallest file you have that will cause the crash?

Why does any iPhone/iPad file work, while any Leica M file crashes?

I wasn't aware of that. And now I still ain't.

Now I can make a decision.... between tools that support my files.
