From 8-bit YUV to 10-bit RGB

PostMon Jun 09, 2014 4:38 pm

I've mentioned this in other threads, but I feel it deserves its own topic.

With the latest two versions of Desktop Video, my UltraStudio 4K will only see my HDMI source with the Uncompressed 10-bit RGB codec... before these updates, it was always 8-bit YUV. What's the deal? Why is it 10-bit RGB now in the latest build? That doesn't make any sense to me. It's annoying, because 10-bit requires a higher bandwidth that I'm unable to meet, so I can't capture my footage.

Anyone else have this problem?

system:
Desktop Video 10.1.1
UltraStudio 4K
Mac OS X 10.9.3 3.5 GHz / 24 GB

I'm bumping this topic, it has been prevalent on the last two versions of Desktop Video.

The release notes for 10.1.1 say:
Audio fixes on all inputs and outputs.
10-bit RGB support on HDMI in all HD modes.
Fixes for Avid Media Composer Title Tool and timeline output.
Fixes for output flicker and issue when replacing clips of different formats in ProTools 11.
General performance and stability improvements.

That in bold is cool and all... except that is the only format available, 8-bit YUV is no longer an option. What can I do to make 10.1.1 work with 8-bit YUV again?

Wow... okay. Another Desktop Video update (10.1.4), and this is STILL not fixed. What gives, BlackMagic? PLEASE let me use YUV again!

How is this not an issue worth fixing?

@Adam, yes, for sure. I am aware of this. I have been reporting this issue to them before posting to the forums. This is just so it is out there documented, for people to see.

So here I am, again, to tell you that with Desktop Video 10.2, you still cannot capture in 8-bit YUV.

Same problem here. 8 bit YUV Works on my TB Ultrastudio Mini Recorder, but not on my 4K Extreme. Using 10.1.4.
