Trouble updating firmware Decklink quad

PostSat Apr 05, 2014 7:43 pm

Hello,

we are having trouble updating firmware on Ubuntu Server 12.04.3 x64 LTS. After I have installed version 10.0 drivers i got the message to update firmware, but when i try to update i get: Firmware update failed.
I have tried using driver version 9.8 but i get the same message.

nettv@machine:~$ BlackmagicFirmwareUpdater status

I have searched this forum and many others but i haven't been able to fix this issue.
What I have tried:
- vmalloc=512M (even though i am using 64 bit version)
- pcie_aspm=off
- /usr/lib/blackmagic/BlackmagicPreferencesStartup 0 99
- changed drivers from 10.0 to 9.8
- did clean uninstall, cleaned residue files, did fresh install of both versions
- checked that all the required packages are installed and so on

None of the above have worked, and i have searched high and low.

I see that there are many complaints about 10.0 drivers so i am sticking with 9.8 for testing.
My kernel version is 3.2.0-29.
My syslog says: kernel: Firmware programming ERROR: Write Erase Timeout

Any suggestions?

Thank you for your help in advance.

For my quad card, with driver 10, I did:
BlackmagicFirmwareUpdater update 3

Updating card 0 was failing. One update seems to be enough for all the sub-cards.

We also achieved the update with update option 3, and it does work in SD, but we weren´t so lucky with HD resolution.
Is it also working even with 720p or 1080i?? We did try these under PAL or NTSC and non of them worked correctly!

Yes, it's working for me (720p60 and 1080p30) on Intensity and Decklink Quad.

This seems to have solved our problem!!! Only one update was enough and after reboot all the heads are OK. Just one thing, we did this with Ubuntu 10.04 live CD.

Thank you all for your help!

I updated the firmware and upgraded to 10.1, but I have in fact issues with some video formats, especially 720p60.
I had to downgrade to v9.8 to get a stable system.
It's too bad since the all the driver packages were finally working (issues before around Qt versions).

I guess we need a version 10.2
