what is dkms_version? readme out of date

PostFri Nov 17, 2017 4:55 pm

Blackmagic_Desktop_Video_Linux_10.9.7.tar.gz
ReadMe.txt

What's New in Desktop Video 10.9.7
(good, looks like the right Readme..

* The package installed, but the driver was not loaded
.... You can issue
the following command to manually run the build and use the output to
determine the problem.

# sudo dkms build -m desktopvideo -v 10.1.2

# dkms build -m desktopvideo -v 10.1.2
Error! Could not find module source directory.
Directory: /usr/src/desktopvideo-10.1.2 does not exist.
root@cnt5:/var/cache/debconf-video-blackmagic# ls /usr/src/blackmagic-
blackmagic-10.9.7a2/ blackmagic-io-10.9.7a2/

Seems the Readme is out of date.

Also, is there some way to determine the version other than looking at the dir?

Hi Carl,

To check for Desktop Video version installed, please run
Code: Select all
$ dkms status -m blackmagic -k `uname -r`
blackmagic, 10.9.7a2, 4.10.0-38-generic, x86_64: installed

I will request update to the ReadMe.txt file (which uses argument -m desktopvideo)

Kind Regards
Cameron Nichols
