Cannot output HDR metadata EOTF = HDR(1). Not supported?

Cannot output HDR metadata EOTF = HDR(1). Not supported?

PostWed Feb 05, 2020 10:12 am

I am using SignalGenHDR to output HDR metadata and CapturePreview to display them.
I am focusing on HDR metadata EOTF.

PQ and HLG EOTF metadata works OK. When I select PQ or HLG on the SignalGenHDR, I see the corresponding values in CapturePreview.

When I try to implement HDR EOTF (which I believe is traditional gamma 2.4 on HDR), I cannot observe it on CapturePreview. I observe SDR.

Supported EOTFs are defined as SDR=0, HDR=1, PQ=2, HLG=3.
Is HDR EOTF metadata output not supported in current software version?

Card used: Decklink 4K Extreme 12G
Driver 11.4.1

Hi Altug,

Can you confirm whether you are capturing from HDMI or SDI?

Dear Cameron,

We use HDMI.
An HDMI cable is used to loop HDMI output to HDMI input on the same card.

Hi Altug,

No EOTF = 1 is not supported by HDMI capture. The EOTF support is advertised in EDID by calling IDeckLinkHDMIInputEDID::SetInt[1] with ID bmdDeckLinkHDMIInputEDIDDynamicRange[2]. The accepted values for dynamic range are defined by enum BMDDynamicRange[3]

Dear Cameron
Thanks for your reply.
We are not obliged to use HDMI. I can switch to SDI.
Are all EOTF values supported in SDI?
Both capture and output?

Regards
Altug
