PauseStreams and timestamps

PostTue Jul 14, 2015 10:24 am

From the SDK docs for PauseStreams:

"Capture time continues while the streams are paused....."

What does this exactly mean?

I paused a video stream. I resumed it again by calling PauseStreams and the first timestamp I get is again from 0.

Is this expected?

The documentation is either confusing on just wrong.

Hope the documentation team (or whoever from blackmagic) reading this post clarifies.

Hi Aditya,

"Capture time continues while the streams are paused" is clarifying that IDeckLinkInput::PauseStreams cannot pause the input video stream and that it is only pausing the capture operation.

I agree that this statement "Capture may also be resumed by calling StartStreams but capture time will be reset." is unclear and have created a ticket so this can be reviewed.

I have confirmed that the current behaviour is as your observe, pausing and resuming the capture operation resets the frame stream time.

Cheers,

-nick
