HI Sami -
I noticed that you recently posted a number for basic hardware function questions for the Decklink Quad. These questions are more sales type questions so please PM or email our support if the following does not answer your questions across your recent 4 different posts.
1- Automatic Mode Detection supported on specific Decklink and other cards. The original quad does not have this hardware feature and the recently announced Quad 2 will have this feature. You can find a SDK sample in the SDK download with the same name which developers use to handle format changes. See page 31 of SDK document for this function. You would need to know the incoming format on the original Decklink Quad or use another method to query the incoming signal (frame rate, colorspace, bit depth, and format).
2- Decklink Quad (4 independent Blackmagic boards on one pciexpress card ) would actually show up as 4 Decklink Devices so if you had 3 Decklink Quads - it would show up as 12 devices. Depending on how the card is physically wired (see Tech support diagram if you are unfamiliar). The ability to run more Decklink (either same model or others) is really up to the number for lanes for PCIE and dependent on your system architecture, chip set and host CPU(s)
3 - Reference input or Genlock is managed by taking an external clock source in (either Blackburst or Tri level) and that signal is used to match the outputs (1 thru 4) the same incoming signal rate. If a genlock source is connected to the reference input of the card, the frames that are output will be synchronised to the genlock signal. There are no other functions as you refer free running etc.
4 - Post referred to workflow of receiving on device one - yes that is what we call capture or receiving in your terms. Not sure what you mean capture the data as the buffer besides what is available via our C++ SDK is not accessible. Modify the video only question - not sure what you mean here as you process the video but Audio and VANC is always present so recommend you email to our support to confirm the actual workflow. Email is on page 13 of the SDK manual.
Specifically on your questions 2 - Yes 708 but has to be 10bit, 3 - Dolby is passed through from input to output but we don't process it nor do we modify from embedded audio from one format to another. If you need specific Audio format conversion, the Decklink card does not perform any conversions of Audio.
