Customizing EDID to force HDMI negotiation

PostFri Apr 08, 2016 2:14 pm

In some cases it could be very handy to modify the EDID exposed by the capture card to force the connected source to use a proper resolution.

For example when capturing from a PC's HDMI, it s convenient to force progressive output and preferably with a size that won't force you to downscale image (720p instead of 1080p).

One can achieve this with an external device (EDID ghost), but it would be so much easier to configure this directly on my Intensity Pro4K card.

Is that possible or planned to be possible ?

Thanks.

I also am needing this but for the output of the decklink monitor card. Trying to send 8 channels of sound to a AVR. The AVR only sees 2 channels but plugging the signal into a deck there are 8 present. I'm assuming the audio block data is missing.

We bought 8 Decklink mini cards for LinuxConf, PostgresConf and PyConZA in South Africa this year and we really could use this ability, as we must have presenter laptops output 720p50 and we will have different presenters come in very often, so each one of them has to go into their OS settings and change they're output (particulalry their refresh rate) each time, otherwise we won't be able to record their laptop's output.
