Ultrastudio 4k - reflash firmware

PostFri Sep 09, 2016 3:04 pm

Is there a way to reload the firmware on an Ultrastudio 4k thunderbolt device?

We have a unit here that was in the middle of a firmware update when power was pulled and now it doesn't seem to work.

On the old multibridges, you could load up the multibridge utility and force on a default config via USB, reboot, and the bmd software would see the device and try to update the firmware again. Since this is an a unit that's out of its warranty period, I took the lid off and discovered that it does have a USB port internally, so I'm wondering if there is a way to do the multibridge procedure on the ultrastudio 4k.

Thanks in advance

Hi Ted,

There is no mechanism to forcibly perform or trigger a firmware update.

If after the interrupted firmware update the device is still enumerated on Thunderbolt, it may be possible to attempt the firmware update again.

If not, I recommend contacting your local Support office [1], who will be able to advise steps to resolve the issue.

Cheers,

-nick

I sent it back to BMD to get it reflashed. I was hoping to avoid the downtime of the RMA process.

I guess I'll be without capture for a while.

thanks for the response!

Ted
