Video Frame with width that doesn't match BMDDisplayMode

PostTue Jan 24, 2017 9:15 pm

I would like to know the behavior of the Decklink Duo 2 when the frame size does not match the BMDDisplayMode for output.

Let's say I have a source that is 1440x1080. I created a video frame for that width.
I set the display to bmdModeHD1080i50 and I was able to schedule frames. A capture in MediaExpress was giving me a video of 1920x1080.

Does the DeckLink Duo card do conversions?
What is the behavior when the frame size does not match the BMDDisplayMode?

Thanks!

I have contacted developer support and I have been informed that horizontal scaling will be performed based on the following aspect ratios:
  • 1:2
  • 3:4
  • 3:8
  • 1:3
  • 2:3

Also these are applicable for 8-bit modes only.
They finally mentioned that we should implement scaling in our application for more robust scaling.
