Announcing Desktop Video 10

PostFri Sep 13, 2013 9:29 am

Blackmagic Design today announced Desktop Video 10, a major new software update for its UltraStudio 4K and DeckLink 4K Extreme capture and playback products that replaces all processing with a wholly new design. This new software update allows for innovative features such as simultaneous capture and playback and will be available in October free of charge.

UltraStudio 4K running simultaneous capture and playback will be demonstrated with DaVinci Resolve 10 on the Blackmagic Design IBC 2013 booth in Hall 7, Stand H20.

That's a great question. Media Express could really use an update.

Media Express is the same from day one and hope it can capture dual streams. Canopus dvstorm captures from 3 sources. DVstorm capture, Analog and firewire. Then pc was slower. At least 4 streams maximum will make our day. We can buy 4 shuttles in one machine

Beware all their updates these days cause problems. Looks like they put them without testing

2 months late without any comment is not very professional. All you have to say is ' we added last minute features' or ' We found a major bug and need to fix it'.... but nothing..

I know this is still being worked on. There's an entirely new kinda back end going in it.

What I do know is that this will not change how most users use they're Desktop Video Products. The simultaneous I/O has to specifically be programmed for by developers. We've done it for Resolve as was demoed but this will not change other integrations like Media Express, FCPX, Premiere or Avid, Etc.

I'll work on seeing if I can get a status update on this as I agree, it has gone a bit dark on this front.

It is a shame... Look when this post starts... look at the date today! Blame, blame , blame.... Audio does not work well with 9.3.3 .... and 10.0.0 is out of sight ... not professional.... :-(
