Dodgy eBay seller claims to work for Blackmagic

PostThu Nov 14, 2013 7:07 am

I have had a rather bad experience with a eBay seller who claims he works for Blackmagic.

I bought a 'Brand New: Never Used' BMD audio monitor from eBay user pande_g.

When the unit arrived it was scratched all over and the packaging was old and worn. The RCA inputs at the rear looked as though they were resoldered on or something too with touch up paint applied.

When I asked for a refund he said that I got a good price compared to RRP despite the wrongly listed item and that he would offer a refund. I followed the correct PayPal dispute process and he wrote to Paypal this statement:

This is absurd. If he wanted a refund why didn't he ask for it a month and a bit ago? It's ridiculous how buyers think they can make the seller out of pocket after they use it for their purpose or product ( when they are under the pump for work), then when they don't need it for their work. When he was bidding on the eBay listing, he bid on the whole listing, which states no refunds or returns. It puzzles me why he left it that long to request a refund thought

I looked up his name and on LinkedIn he claims to work for Blackmagic. User: pande-gruevski

I wonder if Blackmagic know they have an employee who is selling used goods as new on eBay and then getting nasty when he is caught out. Is he even an employee?

I guess the point of this post is to warn the community about a dodgy seller who specialises in BMD hardware.

I am sorry to say the item you have purchased from eBay is stolen from Blackmagic Design. Please return it to your eBay seller for a refund using Ebay's Resolution Centre. You can use the refunded money to purchase the model new from a reputable Blackmagic Design reseller.

As you can imagine, we cannot support stolen products because it appears that the products stolen were prototype models. This means they might not meet compliance for electrical and EMC standards as well as safety standards. They might not even allow software to be loaded so they might not even work.

Please do not hesitate to send me a PM should you wish to discuss this further.
