Scratch on the built-in IR filter

PostTue May 05, 2015 7:47 am

Good day!

Recently, I made a mistake and gave my BMCC to my ham-handed friends. They returned the camera with a light scratch on the IR filter glass (which is infront of the sensor). They don't tell me how it happened but I supposed they just cleaned it wrong. The scratch is only can be seen on video with closed apperture. So, is there any way to fix it? May be it is possible to replace the IR filter? But service centres in Russia say that they do not provide such kind of services. I also thought about polishing as the scratch is really light but I am not sure because I don't know if there is any coating on the filter (like on lenses).

I would reach out to your regions support office for more detailed information on this. You can find contact info on the company page of our website.

After a year I want to raise this question again. I cannot find any information on spare parts both from regions support or the internet.

Yes, I also sent a message to the support, but there is no reply... yet, I hope. And I just need an answer on a simple question: What this glass is and where can I find a replacement? I know I am not the only one with such a problem. Look through the forums, some people have scratches on the glass, some have strange oil spots on it, but there is no answer anywhere where to buy a replacement.

I do not know of a place where this glass can be purchased. The offices would be able to provide you more information as to what can be done for you on this topic.
