How do I connect an RCA subwoofer to a receiver?

PostThu Jan 10, 2013 8:26 am

I am setting up a home theater system in my house. My dad has set it up before, but not in years, so he doesn't remember how to do it. I have a Polk Audio subwoofer that has 2 RCA slots (red/white) and a Sony receiver with one RCA slot (black). How do I make these work? I don't know how to do speaker-level input, but that's an option.

Simply connect a cable to either input on the subwoofer, doesn't make a difference.

Don't use the speaker-level input, let the receiver do the cut-offs (most set it at 80dB).

For long time period , you can use RG-6 coax cable, terminated to standard cable F connectors at the wall plates, then use F-RCA (female) adapters at each wall plate to connect to shorter Subwoofer cables at each end in the room.Hope it Helps you .
Don't compare yourself to others . You have no idea what their journey is all about!
