Shall we have a thread to list stolen gear?

Here's a post of an alleged con artist who has absconded with some very expensive lenses:

This one hits very close to our community: more than 200 Veydra primes stolen! If you find a very good deal on a Veydra lens, it's stolen!

You can add a Zeiss 9.5mm Mk2 Super Speed to that list, mine has gone missing from the Post. Logged out of my local PO on hr USPS truck, never logged back in anywhere, never made it to its destination either.

Rick, I filed an investigation last week. Yesterday, USPS accepted my claim, and sent a insurance claim package to me. Today, the lens showed up at Duclos Lenses in LA. I had enclosed the Duclos CLA Invoice with the lens, and when the investigation started, who ever took, misplayed or otherwise tampered with the package, put it in undelivereable mail bin, where it was opened (guessing the outside customs/addresse forms had been removed, hence the missing scan bar, and they found the Duclos Invoice and returned the lens to them. It sure didn't take 30 days to get it from SF to LA!

Duclos contacted me today when they received the lens, looked it up and gave me a bell. Thank goodness for lens Ser.No., and/or invoice number. Great service from all at Duclos. They are sending the lens back to me via UPS. No more USPS for high value items, like this lens!

Veydra getting ripped off is a real bad issue! Hope they find the culprits and hang them by their short...
Cheers

Yes, never ship valuables via USPS. I always use one of the big couriers.

The lens arrived back today from Duclos via UPS. Going out again via FedEx, no more USPS for me!
Cheers

Does courier do not provide insurance?

Sorry to hear about your inconvenience. USPS is notoriously bad for being bad for shipping either heavy items or small valuables.

They will accept them, it's getting them delivered properly that is the issue. Yes, USPS has insurance you can buy, which I did. It is getting a claim processed and paid, that is the issue. I had a camera get dsmefed in DHL/USPS post, filed a claim, submitted the damaged box the camera was in permUSPS request, to the local postmaster (manager). About 30-days later, I received a letter from USPS declining the claim, as I had not submitted the damaged box! You can not win with USPS :!:
Cheers
