Macvidcard and vram usage on Mac 5,1

PostThu Mar 02, 2017 8:07 pm

Hey Guys,

I'm wondering if anyone can help me answer this question about my GTX 980 ti flashed by Macvidcards.

I'm doing some heavy 4k composition work in Davinci Studio 12.5 and noticed that when I go to cache render the clip for playback, it looks to me that only about half the vram is being used, according to istats. It literally looks like the VRAM is being "clipped." Am I just reading this wrong? The program is running pretty well considering I am rendering multiple 4k elements with multiple heavy OFX applied to each of them with only the occasional "GPU out of memory" error coming up when I apply too many OFX. Still, I am wondering if I'm getting the full VRAM capacity out of this card and, if not, is there a way I am able to?

Also, if anyone could ring in on this, is it the GPU that renders or CPU? I'm looking to increase my cache render times for these big composite clips.

Jason
