Geforce GTX 780 is on sale!

PostWed Jun 05, 2013 3:13 pm

No affiliation with this particular vendor....but this is a smoking great card and it's 30% off!

4K output capable
3GB RAM
Just over 2000 CUDA cores
$650 (canadian)

I'd say that's a pretty solid investment in a graphics card right now!!

Just as a side note you do realize that even the built in GPU on the new Haswell CPU's can do 4K output through HDMI, so 4K output isn't that big a selling point

Its still a feature available on a product shipping today, which the new Intel CPUs are not. It's inclusion on my list is more about future proofing, as there are many cards selling today that are NOT capable of outputting 4K. So if you are going to buy a new card in the short term, wouldn't you want one that has this feature or one that doesn't?

The new Intel CPU's started shipping on Monday. I already have 5 of them in different systems for testing. Even the 700 series can only do up to 30p @ 4K as HDMI 1.4a doesn't support anything higher.
I wasn't saying don't get the card, I was just pointing out that '4K output' isn't really that great a feature as it's built in to the new CPU's now
