Building a Library of Free Images for Everyone

PostMon Apr 01, 2019 11:05 am

Hi Folks,

I've been building a library of thousands of images that might be useful under titles, for visual effects and for other things. They are on the "TXR" pages on my website. All I ask in return is to be attributed in your videos as explained on my site.

Here are the newest ones:

TXR – CONCRETE / PAVEMENT – Seamless
https://soundimage.org/txr-concrete-pavement-seamless/

TXR – GROUND
https://soundimage.org/txr-ground/

TXR – VEGETATION
https://soundimage.org/txr-vegetation/

I hope some of my images are helpful. Brand new music tracks are coming on Wednesday.

Have a good week!

Hi Eric. Are there any free image efforts out there. I remember 21 years ago proposing an film industry library of free 3D models and textures in order to reduce the cost of 3D production. With the Nvidua ray tracing GPU cards it's time for that.

Turbosquid has free models and things...paid ones, too. That's the only site I know of.

You guys are very welcome!

I had a very busy weekend, but I managed to get some new fantasy textures done. Possibly useful for VFX or maybe other things.

First up, some seamless bumpy stone textures that look like they could be covered with moss, algae or maybe lichens. These might look cool for pathways. They are here:

TXR – GROUND
https://soundimage.org/txr-ground/

Here are some cool stained glass textures that might look nice for windows of churches or other fantasy structures…maybe for RPGs. They are here:

TXR – GLASS
https://soundimage.org/txr-glass/

New music tracks will be coming out later in the week.

Enjoy!

You're very welcome...I hope some of my work is helpful! :-)

Greetings fellow creatives,

I’ve posted new cartoon-style texture images here:

TXR – GLASS – Cartoon

Some wild textures here…

https://soundimage.org/txr-glass-cartoon/

TXR – METAL – Cartoon

Some dirty metal textures…

https://soundimage.org/txr-metal-cartoon/

TXR – ROCK/STONE – Cartoon

https://soundimage.org/txr-rockstone-cartoon/

Please keep in mind that they are meant to be building blocks rather than polished textures, so feel free to edit / alter / mash / etc., as needed.

Btw, if you happen to have kids (or know someone who does) I’ve created a learning series that teaches them environmental stewardship in a fun way through stories and characters. It was my first try at making films with a DSLR…(they can be very challenging to work with in the field)…but I think they came out pretty well. The organization I made them for was very happy with them and uses the films all the time…hopefully others can benefit from them as well. Please feel free to share with family, friends, teachers or anyone you know who might find them useful.

Hey there,

I’ve posted some more wild cartoon-style texture images derived from glass objects:

TXR – GLASS – Cartoon
https://soundimage.org/txr-glass-cartoon/

As always, please remember that they are meant to be building blocks rather than polished textures, so feel free to edit / alter / mash / etc., as needed.

Don’t forget to check out my learning series that teaches environmental responsibility in a fun way through stories and characters. The premise is this:

How can we expect children to be the future stewards of the Earth if they don’t feel connected to it??

Please share with family, friends, teachers or anyone who might find it useful.

I can’t believe May is almost over…what the hell happened to spring? I swear…time is going by faster and faster…yikes!

Anyhow, more new cartoon-style (for lack of a better word) texture images are here:

TXR – CONCRETE / PAVEMENT – Cartoon
https://soundimage.org/txr-concrete-pavement-cartoon/

TXR – GLASS – Cartoon
Some wild textures here…
https://soundimage.org/txr-glass-cartoon/

TXR – GROUND – Cartoon
https://soundimage.org/txr-ground-cartoon/

TXR – VEGETATION – Cartoon
https://soundimage.org/txr-vegetation-cartoon/

If you find my work helpful (especially my music and sounds) please consider making a donation to my website. The synthesizers I use to create the music and sounds that I share with everyone are very expensive…so expensive, in fact, that I have to make monthly payments on them…and donations really help me a lot to pay for them. Thanks in advance…and please feel free to share your projects…I love to see how creative people are using my work!

One that could work as a river bed in autumn...or perhaps for something else.

https://soundimage.org/txr-ground/

On my TXR – ORGANIC page:

One that could be an alien skin perhaps.

https://soundimage.org/txr-organic/

And on my ROCK/STONE – Seamless page:

Some new stone texture creations that might come in handy for pathways, buildings or other stone structures.

https://soundimage.org/txr-rockstone-seamless/

I like what you are doing. Decades back I thought an open source library of free 3D modles was the way to go to reduce 3D production costs a lot (add modules to that now). But seeing your thread crop up again inspired me. There is open source FPGA models, even first cameras, and the mobile module platform for hardware. If you could gave a standard for the modules to talk to each other generically, you could have a camera platform where you could upgrade to nearly any image sensor by swapping piyr a module, and have it recognised by the system and functional quickly. You could do the same with processor etc, dynamically. Add an FPGA, CPU, GPU or custom chip and it could load balance automatically to use the extra resources. With small se sors thus should be straight forwards, as you can avoid heat management hardware a lot, but use computational imaging to render am up market DSLR like image with good bokeh.

Hey everyone,

For those of you who have been using my original music in your projects, I’ve had a good number of requests for uncompressed versions of my tracks, so I’ve begun making them available on Gumroad for a small fee to help support the site. The MP3 files that I make freely available sound very good, but the original uncompressed WAV files really sound incredible…give them a try!

If anyone is curious as to why I didn’t upload WAV files onto my site to begin with, the reason is that my web hosting service places limitations on file sizes and WAV files tend to be very large.

Anyhow, it’s going to take some time to upload everything, so if anyone has any requests for WAV versions of tracks you happen to like, just drop me an email and I’ll upload them to Gumroad for you. Feel free to convert to Ogg (or any format you like.)

That said, this week’s new free textures are on the following pages:

TXR – BRICK - Seamless
These might be really nice for castles.
https://soundimage.org/txr-brick-seamless/

TXR – WOOD – Seamless
Perhaps for old doors, structures, barrels or other things.
https://soundimage.org/txr-wood-seamless/

More music and ambient sounds coming this week.

Enjoy and keep being creative!v

Hi guys,

New free images are waiting for your projects on these pages:

ART – Cobblestones
More mad experimenting. I made some pixel art style images from a couple of my cobblestone images. Maybe for castles and things? They look pretty cool scaled down. Feel free to edit / take samples from them / scale them as needed, etc.
https://soundimage.org/art-cobblestones/

ART – Brick
Some new pixel art-style brick images. Trying to come up with some fresh new looks. Feel free to edit / take samples from them / scale them as needed, etc.
https://soundimage.org/art-brick/

MUSIC UPDATE:

WAV files proved too large to upload onto Gumroad in any reasonable amount of time…(we’re talking about 1900+ tracks) so I’m uploading Ogg files instead. I’ve started with my Fantasy page. They sound really great…give them a try!

Meanwhile, if anyone has requests for WAV versions of tracks you happen to like, feel free to contact me.

Have a good week and keep being creative!
