BMPCC 4/3 primes

PostMon Jul 01, 2013 12:21 am

I am moving from a pro camcorder to the Pocket. I will be shooting a feature shortly after I receive the cam and am looking for suggestions for good primes. I will probably need to start with 3: (1) a good general purpose walk around prime, (2) a good one for wider cinematic shots, (2) closeups. Later I will probably move to the 4K, but for now I am a bit lost on what 4/3 lenses I should get. Thanks in advance.

Hi Jason, have a look at these:

For your general purpose try on of these:
SLR magic 12mm f 1.6 equivalent to ±34mm, distortion 1.5% also close focus to 15mm
Voightlander Nokton 17.5mm f 0.95 - equivalent to ±52mm distortion 1.7%
Panasonic 20mm f1.7 - equivalent to ±60mm. it is inexpensive, light and very small but distortion at 3.3%

On the Macro side check these two out:
Panasonic 45mm ELDG macro and the Olympus 60mm macro, both at f2.8

On the wide side the choices are limited but see the Sigma 8 - 16 mm f4.5 - 5.6 - It is slow but has < 3% distortion at the wide end and it will give you an equivalent of 24 - 48mm in 35mm terms
