1) What is so wretched about the Windows platform, that no software exists for it, that compares to the cool Controllermate software tool you use to create custom controller commands for surface devices in the Mac OS environment?

Short as i am on the road,

1. Never. Sorry. Windows just sucks monkeyballs.
2. If you have an MK1 and it is 100% working, no busted knobs/buttons etc, stick with it as 99.99% feature set match with the MK2 implementation. Only defferent layout , which is a matter of taste. You only miss one extra stepped knob for frame by frame navigation, which is only on the MK2.
If you have no APC40 yet or you MK1 died, get the MK2 as is new (with warranty) and shiny and smooth knobs and can be bought anywhere . And durability wise the APC twins are hard to beat as proven by the MK1 , which is still rocking and rolling after more then a decade.
3. If you have any remaining questions just pmail me directly (or via the contact form) and when i am back in later tonight i will attempt to answer your remaining questions as good as i can.

Just rolled out an update so my super smooth custom jogwheel from edit and media pages can now also be used in the new DR16 cut page. (Also on the Beatstep with its nice large jogwheel)

Just an fyi and reply to several user question since the latest DR releases came out.
YES all my controller kits are fully compatible with the latest DR16 and DR16.1 beta.

At the repeated request of several customers , added a toggle to the LOG and WHEELS page to now additional directly drive the ColorWheels as well, using 4 directional multitouch knobs per ColorWheel. Pushing out today and for all controller kits (APC40 MK1/MK2 v10.7 and Beatstep v10.8)

A sneak peak of an upcoming additional feature for the Beatstep and the Akai APC40 Davinci Resolve software kits. A full featured auto detecting/configuring Camera Raw panel control set. Of course with course/fine control and individual parameter reset.
It smart maps the raw controls for all raw types to similar knobs so saturation, contrast etc is always the same knob for all raw types and identical to the location in the primary and log wheels page. So muscle memory immediately works when you switch to the new raw panel.
Expected to be rolled out in v10.9 around end dec 2019/begin jan 2020

Just rolled to all APCMK2 customers with a few nice extra developments as a holliday bonus.
Check your inbox if you did not yet get an auto update notification.

And for potential new customers (new mac pro owners that have spend almost all their money and have only some small change left for a controller), kits are still at -35% discount for the whole of december due to popular demand.

Wooooooow. Was able to find a brand new in box ceiled and nice new smelling APC40 MK1. Apparently hidden for 15 years in the basement of a local synth store. Thought it was impossible but luck is on my side.
Still the absolute best midi controller ever made. Will easily last me another 15 years. Now of course with my Davinci Resolve controller kits priceless....

You told me in a mail that you have some old Version last month.

I am now with a First Installation in hackintosh Catalina and as far i see all well. The only Desaster IS for me that my soundcard is Not recognized. And Fairlight mapping for me is the most important, because i compose directely inside Fairlight as DAW.

One question Controllermade supports only Mojave and not Catalina. Is there any Problem?

I have a Plugin that works inside Fairlight as host for VST effects and synthesizers. Is there a space inside yours Version that i can map inside my host when i am inside Fairlight external Plugins?

You never did made a Demo for Fairlight and how we can work with it. The Plugin comes from a 2 man company in USA and last night they provide a update that is realy cool. This Guys are artists for Soundpatching. 35 years He makes factory patches for companies Like Korg. Or patches for artists like Elton John.



Please make If time a basic view for Fairlight demo and If there is space to map additional third Party Plugins.

To keep it simple, my controller focuses on controlling the Davinci Resolve color page and not 3rd party plugins specifically as that is impossible to maintain. As a sound engineer i myself have hundreds of vst/au plugins so imagine having to maintain mappings for that.
So if you are looking for a fairlight specific controller , this is "not" it for you even-though i do offerbasic fairlight functions.

Fairlight support in Resolve is support in that is made available by Blackmagic and is limited to the commands available inside the so-called HUI midi protocol.
That means simply said, transport, volume, pan, mute, solo, record enable for groups of 8 channels and able to move up and down banks of 8 channels and single channels.
Thats it. Noting more is in that protocol. You can see that in the videos of the different controllers i posted demonstrated.

Now separately i have created a custom routine that is able to drive plugins which live in the inspector panel of Davinci Resolve and for OFX / VST plugins only for the 1st 16 horizontal sliders of that plugin.
3rd party and Resolve native. Next to that for OFX plugins in the color page I have currently 22 custom mapped Resolve ofx plugins. But for audio / fairlight its limited to the 1st 16 sliders of ANY plugin. Nothing else.

Regarding Catalina (and Big Sur) , only with my special toolkit you can use controllermate for these operating systems and will only work in combination with my software. Fully supported, zero issues (Big Sur likely requires a few extra tweaks, like disabling some osx security features to get controllermate to work in combination with my software)

Update:
DR17 versions are finally ready and being pushed out to users today (separate versions so you can switch between DR16/DR17).
Besides all re-mappings to match new layout for all controller models and other DR17 related changes, the APC models now also get full control over the new Magic Mask tracker panel as well as full control of the new HDR grading panel. The Beatstep models (less real estate) get basic control of the new HDR grading panel in DR17.

New customers get DR16 + DR17 versions in a single purchase.

This is really neat and exciting. Unfortunately it is only for the Mac. When the M1 Max Mini comes around, this is a nice panel I would like to acquire to complement. Until then…

Thanks but its also only for Intel base Macs,Hacks or OSX VM's atm. No eta for an M1 version due to incompatibilities of key driver.
Have been supporting all Resolve versions since 12.5 and will keep supporting it on the full intel line (including big sur and monteray) going forward.

It's been about a year since the last post on this thread. Just sent an email - love this workflow but unfortunately it seems it won't be compatible on my M1 Max Macbook.

Any developments on ETA for this compatibility?

Sorry no.
The solution only works on intel based machines for all OS versions including Ventura and all current Resolve versions (incl DR18.1.1)

No eta for Apple silicon. And likely wont be there for at least then next 2 years if ever.
