BEST HD EXTERNAL MONITOR FOR BMPCC ?

I've just bought a blackmagic pocket camera and would like to get all the right accessories to turn this poppy into a efficient run and gun video camera. Based on experience, which cage set up would you recommend?
Also, I've heard there are some issues with HD AC7 monitor , bringing false colors to the monitors and will tell you when the image is overexposed.
What is the best external monitor you've worked with?

Smallhd if you want to spend a little.
I use Lilliput 665. Cheap.
I rely for my videos on post production

Which one from SmallHD? I know the AC7 monitor doesn't work well. Which one has been proven very reliable for the pocket?

For run and gun you probably want an EVF rather than a monitor.

A monitor is big. 6-8inches. It needs to be about 2 foot away from your face to be able to view it properly. Which makes run and gun shoulder work difficult.

Also difficult to shade the monitor on the move.

smallHD's focus assists plus is great tho. Wish other manufacturers focus assist was as good.

I have both the Alpharton EVF and the smallHD DP6. Love them both. Use the EVF for run and gun / shoulder work and the DP6 for tripod / studio work.

For the BMPCC I'd look at the smallHD DP4.

At my stage I'm fine with the built-in display for handheld shots (rig / steadicam merlin) and I only use
the monitor to see what I'm actually filming while I'm working with the JIB.

I only set IRIS and white balance - rest I fix in post so I don't need too accurate colors from the display.
I'm using Lilliput 665 which works like a charm for my use.

I'm by no means any professional guy but I do enjoy using this little camera and to record something
that in the end looks professional.

Depends on the workflow tho, if you get all right from start, the post is quicker. In my case - Im not in a hurry

Does the Lilliput 665GL work for you with the BMPCC?
I can't get any signal, with any of the framerates or modes.
Is there any trick to make it work? Or is just a problem with mine?

I use this guy, hdmi loop through and it gives me audio levels on screen. just the Histogram thats a bit off.

I've just sold the Lilliput since I couldn't get it to work and I got an offer for it.
Right now I'm looking at the Marshall V-LCD51 since it's been confirmed that it works and it's 50% lighter than the Lilliput.

I know the AC7 monitor doesn't work well.

What doesn't work well about it? I was thinking about getting one.

I'm planning to use my Zacuto EVF...whenever the BMPCC Speedbooster and Sigma 18-35 f1.8 ever come back in stock...

Until then I sit here with an epic BMPCC rig with no lens and am "stuck" using the good old 5D.

It appears to work fine. I have my camera set to record in FILM mode and display in VIDEO mode...which works on the back of the camera but it only outputs the FILM mode to the EVF so there is that... (makes sense if you're using a external recorder or something.)

Audio meters appear to work fine as well, but they are overlaid on top of the "ProRes and framerate" menu bar area.

If there is a way to move it around, i don't know how?

There seems to be a way to move the audio meters around the screen. Have you gone into the
"feature location" menu? This video (see link) shows audio meters listed in feature location.
What's the orientation of the meters ? Horizontal, or vertical ? Do they also obscure the REC indicator ?

I like the Viltrox DC-50. It is a clone of the Sony CLM-V55 which cost 3 times more. It's 5" and great for framing; and the size just fits nicely with the BMPCC. It only works in video mode so don't try film mode because it will not handle the data sent from the hdmi.

It's good resolution and IPS screen makes focusing a lot easier.

YOU MEAN set to record in FILM mode and display in VIDEO with the Viltrox DC-50? im looking for a small monitor just for framing , i saw that viltrox dc 50 has a aspect ratio of 15:9 instead 16:9 so there's a little black bar under the screen,how does it works in bright sunlight?

aputure vs2 is a good option but is too big,

I found the Atomos Ninja Blade is great monitor and recorder for my BMPCC. it is a 10-bit HDMI Recorder/Monitor/Player. Recording to SSD Drives, has a 1280x720 high-resolution screen, Waveform Monitor and vectorscope. Records in ProRes, LT,HQ,and 422. Which allows me to record raw in-camera and a ProRes backup at the same time on the Atomos. Monitor can be powered by ac or by 2 sony style batteries. I got to say it is the best of both worlds having this on my rig.
There are four focus assist types built into the monitor too. Why purchase just a monitor when you can add a Ninja Blade to your BMPCC?

You can take this one step further, adding a high end 2/4 mixer and pro quality audio recording, along with ProRess 4.4.4, 4.2.2HQ, 4.2.2 down to .LTE, all in perfect sync with the Soun Devices Pix 220 (also an excellent HD monitor, with all the features).
