Apple Prores

PostWed May 24, 2017 5:39 pm

I'm worried about recording on SD cards. Apple say's ProRes 4:2:2 rate at 1920 X 1080 and 29.97 is 147 MB/s.
How can a 90 MB/s SD card do this?
Thanks, Cliff

It can do this because the data rate of ProRes 4:2:2 1080p isn't 147MB/s - it is 147MBit/s which in turn is ~18 MB/s.
Saying "Thx for help!" is not a crime.

Sorry Robert, got my bits mixed up. I am thinking about the SDI output of the Canon XA-35 which we plan to use with the Hyperdeck Mini. So that won't be a problem will it for recording to a Sandisk Extreme Pro 64 for about one hour?

No problem Cliff. This can be confusing sometimes.
And yes recording your XA35 shouldn't be a problem as long as you are using media recommended by Blackmagic.
Saying "Thx for help!" is not a crime.
