BMPC_canon lens

PostMon Dec 11, 2017 8:20 pm

Hello,
I am currently using a Canon DSLR. I am contemplating to get a BMPC and use it with my Canon lenses.
Is there anything I should know, besides getting an adapter, about using BMPC with Canon lenses.
I currently use my DSLR in manual mode when shooting and would like to continue that way.

How is focussing? If I move around for a doc will I be struggling to focus.
On a DSLR it is quite easy.

Any other things I should know about?

Thanks
Alain

Are you referring to the BM Production Camera, or the Pocket Cinema Camera? The former is an EF Mount, the latter requires the Metabones EF to MFT adapter for the BMPCC.

Yes. The pocket camera.
I was wondering if I should be aware of any issues when using the adapter.
Like I said I do a lot of handheld shooting with or without a shoulder rig.
Changing focus on the go as needed.

Just check that the, I'm assuming your getting the metabones speed booster bmpcc, is updated. There's a little USB port on it under a rubber cap. New firmware fixed an issue I was having where one of my lenses kept disconnecting. Otherwise you'll be good to use IS lenses on the EF version for your handheld work.

Focusing works like any other camera, you can use auto focus as well but the pockets isn't continuous. Put focus peaking on, it really is quite good.

Another thing to learn with the pocket is how to expose the log profile correctly, so I'd Google exposing the bmpcc to get the best results.

Thank you.
Is the MB speed booster the only option?
I don't usually use IS.
Handheld or tripod.

It's not the only option but someone else might have to comment on their quality as ive only used the metabones. It's just the best option to not lose any light, infact you gain light, I didn't want to risk reducing the iq of my lenses and the electronic control is a great bonus along with the massively reduced crop factor.

Ok. Fine.
I will definitely look into this.
Hopefully, I can get the BMPC beginning 2018.

Good, the Mteabones BMPCC EF Speed Booster is designed to interface with the Pocket camera and does not need external power to the adapter, and has the best optical quality. This is one bit, you do not want to go second best on. BTW its BMPCC, the BMPC is the larger 4K Production Camera.
