Information from 4K assist in the imported clip?

PostSat Jan 13, 2018 1:04 pm

Just did my first import from the 4K assist. My first time ever with a gear like this.
Why is the information from the 4k assist imported on top of the video. It is imported exactly as I see it in the 4K assist. See attached image. I am sure I just done something wrong but since it is my first time all help are appreciated :)

Hello Robert,
this are not the overlays from the video assist.
The Overlays are from your Panasonic Device.
Your HDMI output must be a clean Signal,
otherwise you are recording this informations, too.

What you did, was record the overlay camera info. What camera were you using? The VA will record the signal sent to it from the camera, it does not remove any overlay info generated by the camera. You need to turn off overlay info in the camera to get a “clean” output without overlays.

The VA will not record any overlay info it (genrsted by the VA) displays, like Zebra or frsme guides, etc.
You need to turn off all overlays on the camera (some DSLRs can not do this, like the Nikon 7000 for example, to get a “clean” recording on the VA. This is true of most external recorders.

He's using an output made for having a better external monitor. A reasonable thing to have overlays there if you want them. But for recording, you certainly want them off.
