Can't update firmware.

PostSun Apr 08, 2018 7:15 pm

I have the BMCC EF and I've downloaded the latest update (5.0.1), but when I plug my camera into my computer and run the installer in the update it says 'Version 2.1, camera is already up to date.' or something along those lines.

Now we're obviously way past version 2.1 and I don't know why the camera set-up isn't giving me the option to upgrade the software. Any reason behind this? Maybe I'm doing something wrong? Thanks in advance.

No, your camera FW is up to date, Ver 2.1 was the last FW update for the BMCC. The newer FW updates since then are for other BM cameras.

Oh okay, thanks. It's just that I've been having a lot of dropped frame rate problems lately and other general camera bugs, so I assumed it was due to being behind on firmware updates.

For what it's worth, I am having this problem with the new URSA update. It's v5.1.1, and my URSA mini 4.6k has software version 4.8. Still, it says the camera is up to date when I run the software.

The camera FW updates do not always contain FW updates for all cameras, and are very camera specific.
Camera FW 4.8 is the latest FW update for the UM 4.6. FW 5.1.1 does contain an update for thr Ursa Viewfinder (EVF), and after running the update on your Camera, connect and uodatemth FW on the EVF.

You need to read the update notes, it will tell you which cameras the update is for. The notes for FW 5.1.1 state:
