Mini Recorder Not Working

PostFri Jun 22, 2018 11:43 am

I have my new Mini Recorder plugged into my MacBook Pro via Thunderbolt. MacOS system report shows that computer can see Mini Recorder.

GoPro Hero 5 Black is connected to Mini Recorder via HDMI after testing GoPro and same HDMI cable on my TV.

MacOS system report can't see GoPro. No software on the computer can see GoPro. Not Media Express, Desktop Video Setup, OBS, nothing.

So:

Thunderbolt Cable is ok
HDMI cable is ok
GoPro is ok.

Mini Recorder in not passing data to Thunderbolt.

Can you tell me what's wrong here or do I need a replacement?

Thanks,

Barry

If your system report is seeing the device as well as Media Express, it's more than likely the output of the GoPro does match the supported standards of the Mini Recorder. We'd suggest looking at the tech spec page for the product and see which of those formats the camera can output matches the ones the product supports.

Similar problem here. ATEM Studio to web presenter to OBS no problems streaming, with 7 DSLR's connected, so I know the camera settings match. SDI out from web presenter to Thunderbolt in, no luck. Tried on two mid-2012 Macbook Pro's, a 2015 iMac and a 2015 XPS15 9550. Also, every time I power up the computer, the system tells me Mini Recorder needs a software update. So I just click OK and wait till done updating. Power cycle as instructed. If I restart I get the same "update" dialogue box. 4 times today. Is this normal? Thanks

You don't mention the format(s) of the ATEM output to the Mini Recorder so there could be a potential issue similar to the previous poster. As for the update to the Mini Recorder, you don't mention which Desktop Video version you have installed but the suggestion is to either move to the most current version if you aren't already or potentially try the previous version and see if the device is still prompted to update after the first time it's connected with that particular release of DTV on the computer. If you're still seeing this issue with multiple DTV installs, we'd suggest contacting the support office in your region for further troubleshooting steps.
