Power consumption of Hyperdeck Mini Studio Recorder?

PostSun Nov 03, 2019 9:51 am

Hi all,

what is the power consumption of the Hyperdeck Minis?

I have my eye on a PoE switch capable of 55W PoE power.
However, nowhere in the manual did I find any statement on
the Hyperdeck power consumption.

Is 55W enough to power four Hyperdeck Minis?

Thanks a million for any helpful insight.

55W / 4 unit = 13.75W a piece, Taking conversion loss in consideration, make it 10 W each. Wont cut at all!!!

You need at least something in the magnitude of 200W, but might even be more.

Also the Hyperdeck is PoE+ ;) That means HIGH POWER PoE. Which is often already more then 55W.

Thank you, that gave me a pointer to a search phrase: PoE+

I found that this is specified to 25.5W per powered device,
so cascading two of these switches would do the job, If I don't
find one that supplies 100W across 4 ports.

Needed that pointer as nowhere in the Hyperdeck Mini spec sheets
there was any power requirement to be found, and my naive idea
was that if there are four PoE ports on the switch, it would be able
to power four devices.

Didn't even know that there were different implementations of PoE,
so "poE+" was exactly what I needed. Thank you again!
