Recording Foxtel with an Intensity Extreme

PostMon Sep 16, 2013 8:00 am

I have an Intesnity Extreme and a macbook pro. I heard that the Blackmagic Extreme would do the trick but when Ive connected it, i dont get any picture on my capture screen? I have it connected via component as I understand foxtel has encyption on their HDMI output.
Any advice would be very welcome!

Firstly you need to check what the source output is from the Foxtel, then check if the Intensity supports that output, if it does then you need to set the input for the Intensity to Component and then in the capture software you have to set the capture settings to match that source

I don't have one of those devices, but reading the manual might help, or if you have a TV that tells you what the source is when hitting it's display option you might be able to find out what the Foxtel is outputting. As to how to set up the Intensity it's explained in the manual

For Foxtel, can use composite or component (which I have done)

HDMI is HDCP protected. So unless you use something like HDMI detective which may or may not work, using the component or composite

Haven't done it for a couple of years. Does depend what you have; I have the SCART to composite/RCA audio lead and then had it plugged into the intensity extreme breakout cable. (or can do from the component HD out but must be subscribed to HD) There are some settings you need to change in terms of what the outputs are (through the main menu)
