HDMI to SDI Not Working With Camera

PostFri Oct 11, 2013 5:00 pm

Trying to go from a consumer Sony HDR-XR150 into HDMI - SDI then to the ATEM TV Studio.

Camera Plugged Directly into ATEM works fine but if I try to go through the SDI convertor I get nothing. Plugged my XBOX into SDI convertor and it works fine. Any ideas of what could be wrong?

If it works directly via HDMI, make sure ALL the dip switches on the SDI converter are turned off. If one of them are turned on it will enable downconversion which will change the format on you.

Also another thing to check. Most every consumer grade camcorder out there outputs HDMI in a fixed (interlaced) format rather than following the in-camera recording format. E.g. If you have the TVS configured for 720p60 - you'll likely find the camera is fixed at 1080i60 (59.94) even if the settings for the camera are actually to record in 720p60.
