H.264 - Device Not Recognized

PostWed Nov 20, 2013 2:06 am

Just purchased the H.264 Pro Recorder.
I'm using Windows 8 on a relatively new Asus laptop (8gb ram, intel i5 processor,nvidia 720m)

Installed the latest software (9.8), and followed all the instructions.... but when I plug my device into the USB 2.0 port (also tried USB 3.0), it does not recognize the device and it can not find the drivers.
When I open Media Express, it still says 'no device is connected'

I am using one of those cables with the multiple different adapters (iPod/micro USB/mini B etc.)
I checked the packaging and the cable does support data, could the cable be part of the problem?
Do I actually need to have the device hooked up to a video source, or should my computer be able to recognize the device by itself?

Update:

Tried uninstalling the desktop video software 8.9 and then installing the software that came on the disk.

I am now getting "error 2753" and the installation fails...
