Flash Encoder & Video Recorder

I currently use the Grass Valley AVDC110 to capture video from a Canon XH-A1 which is then streamed through Adobe Flash Media Encoder. I am using the composite out as the AVDC is a composite to firewire device and well, the end result is that the streamed video looks like booty. I have seen that some users have stated that the Video Recorder basically has issues working with software that is not it's native.
Has anyone ever used the Recorder with the Adobe Encoder before?
Has anyone used the recorder with applications other than it's native? If so, which applications have you used and are any of them streaming applications?
