UltraStudio Mini with Analog video

PostTue Nov 07, 2023 10:38 pm

Hello, I'm a library IT guy who is new to video capture. We have are setting up a station where users can convert VHS to digital, and we have an UltraStudio 4K mini. Long story short, the video comes into the UltraStudio through Analog video, but there is no option to switch to that input. It only has the option for SDI, HDMI, Component, and Composite. There is no option for Analog. On the Desktop Video setup page, it does say "NTSC Locked", which I am assuming is the Analog input. Any ideas what's going on? Anything I can change or update? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Does this device support 525interlaced lines ? my guess is it detects the signal, when the correct connections are connected and selected, the analog signal needs to be stable, which it is not when it comes from a VCR, try to input analog video from a stable source like from a games console or dvd player, try different dvd's in case of CP.
If that works you know you have a working setup.

Both composite and component are analog.

Good Luck

Analog comes in two ways, depending on your. player capacity : most offer only composite video out, where all the video information is combined in one signal. In component mode, the video information is generally divided between Green, Red and Blue channels. Component most often allows a little better definition, but shouldn't be a concern for most family videos. In analog systems, audio is always apart, in mono or stereo, red color being the right (channel 2) channel.

You should carefully look at how you connect analog source, the 4K model can connect composite, component, s-video and SDI video, all options use BNC connectors, but in a different way…. so check the manual for this.
and setting options need to be different if it's not auto detecting.
