It seems strange that the newer version would not work. I don't think a lot, if anything, would have changed with how the software communicates with the HyperDeck.
Please do make sure that you remove the old application before installing the new one, either using Windows' Programs and Features section of Control Panel, or using the uninstaller included in the Mac install package.
