Blackmagic Intensity software, please allow audio option

I would love to take advantage of the Shuttles audio in and use it to record high quality audio minus the video and to be able to save the files in AIFF or MP3. At present I'm assuming the only way to record audio is by recording a large video file, then extracting the audio from it. Please correct me if I am wrong, or please update the software on the next round if possible, it would be a great addition and makes sense.
