Studio Camera to Studio Camera Convreter less than 10GB/s?

PostWed Feb 14, 2024 4:02 pm

Camera to Studio Camera Converter at less than 10GB/s? Is this even possible, if so how can it be configured?

From my understanding this would limit resolution and frequency, but for the given camera (which is a 4K Pro) we would only need 1080p60. This camera will be on the end of a boom and given its location it will be about 225 feet from the studio converter, we can use either CAT 6A, or CAT 7A. But our concern is the distance.

We have four other cameras (2 6K studio and 2 4K studio) that are at about 150 to 170 feet (cable length, using CAT7A underground in conduit, and CAT 6/6A from ground to camera. These have been stable and function well at 1080p80 (using POE).

In testing, for our future boom camera rig, where the camera length is expected to be over 200 ft cable length, we did not get good results, the studio converter never moved into stand-by, stayed at 'no cam' using either a 4K or 6K studio camera.

A Google search did not result in any straight forward answers, so posting question here.

Have you tried powering the cams locally? With POE the issue could be data or power, local power would solve the latter.

Good Luck
