Intensity Pro on Fedora 17 with latest kernel 3.6.1-1.fc17.x

PostSat Nov 03, 2012 7:32 pm

Hello all, hello Dev's, hello users, ...

I used the Intensity Pro Card now on some linux versions, Ubuntu Studio, Fedora 16, so I have a little experience how to get the card working under linux.

Now with the latest upgrades kernel on Fedora 17 is at 3.6.1-1.fc17.x86_64, it seems to work, but actually it does not.

[x@casino ~]$ lspci | grep Blackmagic
05:00.0 Multimedia video controller: Blackmagic Design Device a117

[x@casino ~]$ lsmod |grep blackmagic
blackmagic 463346 0

[x@casino ~]$ BlackmagicControlPanel
I/O error : No such file or directory
/etc/blackmagic/BlackmagicPreferences.xml:1: parser error : Document is empty

^
/etc/blackmagic/BlackmagicPreferences.xml:1: parser error : Start tag expected, '<' not found

^
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

The XML is there, ofc, and it is not empty.

It does not matter if pcie_aspm=off is in grub or not, same results.

In Kdenlive the Blackmagic Card does not show up as capture device, and on the playback section it's greyed out, whatever the project is.

Any advice how to get it working?

BTW, ..

Also, the BlackmagicReadme.txt needs several updates in my opinion.
- the tested kernel versions, and the test results should be described in each release
- if the supported distributions list will be maintained, it should be updated. Ubuntu 12.04 works, Fedora 16 works with some kernel versions, and CentOS5, Fedora 10/11/12/13 .. etc, are no longer supported as the distro itself is no longer maintained.
- Very important would be to list the supported video formats of the card. I could not get any Full-HD progressive format to work with Kdelive. Is this because of the card? The application? The HDMI specification? The LG E2250V display? Is this something that can be done somehow?
- also, the codecs that the card uses natively should be listed in the readme.

Thank you for all your support. BMD is the company of choice for me, great products, great support, keep up the good work!

I hope there will be a full-frame sensor size Digital Cinema Camera developed,... :) ...

I attempted to post this on the bmd-devel list, but it got refused for some reason, hope to find more help here .) ..
