Which battery system?

PostSun Jul 20, 2014 2:55 pm

Hai,

Im currently putting together my (first) rig, for the BMCC. Ive pretty much figured everything out so far, however, Im still unsure when it comes to the battery system. Ive already asked about this here and got several suggestions and now that I made my mind up I would like to see which of those you might considere superior.

Now first of all, the only thing on my rig that need powering is the BMCC. While an external monitor will be part of my rig, that one will be powered by seperate batteries. Same goes for the micro.

I need about 8 hours of battery time.

Alright so the first option that I was suggested was the Anker® Astro Pro2:
http://www.amazon.com/20000mAh-Multi-Vo ... Astro+Pro2

Ive been told that I can expect about 4 hours from one of these guys, so I would need two of these to get my 8 hours. They also seem to be a very nice option price wise, however, I dont know how I would mount this thing on my rig, if at all. Any suggestions?

The other option that was suggested to me are these batteries:

Heres the charger for those:

And the convenient mount plate:

While this option is significately more pricey, I like how this would go together with a rig, in terms of acting as counter balance, an easy way to mount it and a simple way to charge it. It also seems to me that this is a far more professional solution and that I might get far more out of it in the long run. Does anyone have experience with these?

Anyways, I hope you can give me some advise on this, thanks for reading!

Have you considered vmount?
Edit: yes you have as i just saw.

I like vmount. It is solid, standardized and very common in (european) Film sets. just can be problematic when travelling if the batteries contain too much Lithium you wont be allowed to take them in board.

Switronix batteries work great. You can mount them to your rig via quick release plate or V-Mount.
