PostSun Nov 18, 2012 6:31 pm

I have just filmed my first footage using the DNXHD codec and now I'm struggling to get it into FCPX. I have downloaded the Avid plug in, but FCPX still doesn't recognise the files. How do I get it ti import?

What camera are you using?

If you're filming with the Cinema Camera, I'd recommend just filming in ProRes so you don't need to worry about any file conversions.

Oh ok. HyperDeck also can record in ProRes. There is some more info on Page 8 of the HyperDeck manual: http://www.blackmagicdesign.com/media/5 ... Manual.pdf

Yes I know, but at the time I filmed only uncompressed and for the length of shoot I was doing this far to much data for the drives that I have, hence the DNXHD. Thanks for the pointer, but it doesn't tell me how to convert the footage. It should import as I used the Avid DNxHD Quick time setting, but FCPX or any other of my players recognised the files.

If you download the DNxHD codec from Avid you should be albe to use those files SO LONG AS you recorded them as DNxHD mov files and not mxf files.

Thanks. I did record in the correct format. Struggling to find the codec. I did download what I thought was the correct file, but didn't work. Can you point me in the correct direction please.

Now that the drive does Pro Ress thevproblem should not arise again, but I need the get the last job edited.

While I have you, how rugged are the drives. I have two. I have a job way out in the sticks coming up soon. Will they stand up to a couple of weeks on location in the back of beyond?
