Mac: Control audio output volume through software?

I'm working on getting a new Intensity Pro set up for use with FCP7. I've got my speakers connected to the audio-out cables on the breakout cable. Everything is working great, but it would be nice to have volume control directly from my computer, instead of manually adjusting my speakers.

Is there a software solution out there, or is this the way it has to be?
