question about inputs to analog to SDI mini-converter

PostMon Dec 03, 2012 9:25 pm

I don't see any mention of RGB input support with the analog to SDI mini-converter. I need to use RGB inputs instead of component. Is that a possibility with this converter?
thanks

No, doesn't look like it is.

One of these will do the trick: http://www.aja.com/en/products/mini-converters/d10a/#overview

or this if you also want to go composite or YC to SDI:

Yeah, I had found that one. What I really like about the Blackmagic converter is that it can embed audio...which the Aja doesn't do.
I have some concerns about audio/video timing if I convert the RGB to SDI and route the corresponding analog audio direct instead of embedding it in the SDI stream.

The only other one I know of is the MAJ by Broadcast Project Research http://www.bpr.org.uk/

It does standard def RGB, CVBS and analogue audio (all via a SCART connector) to SDI.
Costs a fair bit more: http://www.canford.co.uk/Products/21398/90-954_BPR-MAJ-SCART-TO-SDI-CONVERTER-AND-AUDIO-EMBEDDER-RGB-CVBS-stereo-audio-in-BNC-out
