Intensity Pro: monitoring capture audio???

Depending on the situation, I very much like to monitor capture audio, particularly during system setup. Makes it easy to ensure I've got everything cabled and dialed in correctly.

I have a new Win7 desktop, fully loaded, with BMD Intensity Pro card. The system also has Firewire.

Using FW and a DV cam, I can correctly preview and capture video + audio using Premiere Pro CS6, including audio (and video) monitoring of the live capture stream. I can monitor using either my headphones or the system's speakers.

However, while using the Intensity Pro card and an analog (VHS player) video source, the recorded/saved media (mostly) works... I cannot find a way to enable live monitoring of the audio stream, using either Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 or BMD Media Express!

I can't find a setting for this. By any chance is this function not implemented in the BMD drivers?

Hi Pete,

It's typically not possible to monitor the incoming audio to the Intensity Pro from the system audio, unless this is implemented by the software developer. However it typically is not. When you are capturing with the Intensity Pro, the audio will loop through to the card's outputs; both on RCA and HDMI. I've heard of customers looping the audio from the RCA outputs back into the system audio, and somehow monitoring it from there, but I've never tried it myself, so couldn't say how well this might work.
