DVI Extender to Decklink SDI??

Should this work? I have a MacBook Pro Retina display with a DVI extender (currently set to output 720P. From this I've connected a 12' BNC 58a cable and run it to the input of my Windows 7 64 bit desktop computer with a Decklink SDI PCIe card installed. I want to be able to capture the output from the Macbook and capture it on the PC. Everything appears to be installed properly but I have no way of testing one device without the other device. All I've managed so far is a black screen on the capture side. So, again, the simple question is should it work? If that answer is yes, the more complicated question will be how to make it work.

Thoretically it should.

Have used my BMAir with a DVI extender than successfully into a video switcher (so not the capture component you are looking for). As long as the signals settings are the same (as in laptop output and your capture card setting) it should work.

There are 3 points where you may need to play with the settings:
- screen resolution of your mac
-DVI extender settings (have alook at the manual it gives you the video/monitor options)
-settings for the capture card.

DVI extender is accepting computer resolutions .. I think that decklink will not accept non video resolution (1024x768 for example) ..

Thanks for your responses. I managed to get it to work as I had hoped. Daniel, you pretty much nailed it. Initially I had difficulties primarily due to my lack of understanding of the input settings on the Decklink SDI card. I was under the misunderstanding that the Decklink card simply took in whatever it was sent. The hardware setup application doesn’t appear to have any way to set the input of the card. A conversation with Black Magic tech support clarified that the capture device settings need to be set in whatever software is being used for the video capture. Once I set the Decklink SDI card’s settings to match the output of the DVI extender it all works beautifully. I’m now capturing my 1080p 30 output from my Mac with the capture card of the PC. It should work. I have used DVI Extender products from KVMSwitchTech for similar applications and they work well. I am able to get full 1080p video resolution.
