Unable to install Desktop Video Drivers on Win 8.1

PostTue Mar 17, 2015 2:27 pm

I've been running Desktop Video on my Win 8.1 machine since last November. The system has been running 24/7 since that time with little issue. I've been using (2) BM Decklink studio cards and vMix software. This week Im upgrading my cards by adding a Decklink Duo, upon booting the system told me that I needed to update my BM drivers, I had been using version 10.3.1. The system was unable to successfully complete the driver update. So I then downloaded the current driver 10.3.7 and attempted to install the driver. I was unable to successfully install the drivers. Ofter numerous tries I was able to remove the BM drivers so that I could install fresh. Again, I was unable to install. During this process I did get an error code of 2753. However since uninstalling everything I don't get any error codes, the program exits indicating my system wasn't changed and to try again later.

I'm looking for any direction on things to try in order to get back up and running. I'm running an AMD 8 core with 16gb ram on a SSD.

Have you tried completely uninstalling the Desktop Video drivers and then reinstalling them? This sounds like it's a conflict with the update pointing towards another DTV software already on the computer. This should do the trick but you'll want to install one card back into the system at a time to make sure there isn't any other issues that pop up.

Thanks Tony!

I have uninstalled all BM devices. I'll crack open the case once again and install the cards into the system one at a time. Thanks again for your support. I'll report back soon as I complete the process outlined.

Tony,

I pulled a card and ran Desktop Video 10.3.7 install but it wouldn't install.

I pulled another card and changed slots, again DTV wouldn't install.

I uninstalled all blackmagic software from remove programs in Win 8.1

I noticed these items remaining on my system:

under Program Files (x86) directory I have Blackmagic Desktop Video Drivers still on the system with the last attempt date stamp on the directories. When installing it appears to copy files but hits a point and flashes up that it is rolling back due to an error.

I have no blackmagic programs listed in the apps menu.

Thanks again for your comments and new directions.

Tony,

I reinstalled ATEM switcher and that resolved all the Win 8.1 device mgr issues. I now have a single card up and running and functioning properly. However, when I run DTV install again, I get the same result with the installation program exiting prematurely and then it indicates it is rolling back.

I'm not sure why this is occuring but hope when I add another card the system drivers will pick it up and we'll wait and see what happens when the next DTV update comes out.

Thank You for Your Support!

Have you tried CC Cleaner to see if it can remove an remnants of DTV before a fresh install?

I think that all desktop video drivers are included with the Atem software so you should not need to install any drivers for decklink cards.

I have ran CC Cleaner on both machines and removed any/all issues discovered.

The ATEM Switcher 6.3 update does contain all Decklink drivers. If installing only the desktop video only/first the system requires its removal before the switcher software can be installed....smiling!!!

I have two separate Win 8.1 machines. One has a Duo and an Intensity HDMI card. The Second has a Duo, Intensity Studio Pro and an Intensity Pro SDI card.

When installing the ATEM Switcher software after cleaning everything up here are my results:

Machine one: Intensity card installs and works but no Duo card is found by the system.

Machine two: The Duo card is seen by the system but only one of the two channels is functional, the Intensity Pro SDI card is found and is functional, the Intensity Studio Pro card is not found by the system and upon rebooting the system - the system indicates that the drivers for the Intensity Studio Pro 2 card need to be installed - clicking yes - the system apparently .... appears to install the driver but upon the required reboot the system wants to install the driver again. The System is caught in a vicious unresolvable loop. Canceling out on the install dialog box and entering the Windows system gets the above results as indicated above, no Intensity Studio Pro card is found.

After many weeks of patient experimentation my next move is to remove all cards and begin installing them one at a time, beginning with the Duo card, then the Studio card where appropriate then the Intensity cards.

I've sent in a ticket but only received a canned reply so far. Look for more fun stuff in the days ahead. Any words of wisdom would be welcomed and appreciated!

Installing the new ATEM Switchers 6.4 update has resolved all my Win 8.1 multi-card issues! I tip my hat and lift my cup to the BM Tech Support Team!

Thanks Guys!

I keep wondering if there is a way to get the drivers loaded into the 64 folder...They always go into the 32 (x86) folder...yet they stated a 64 bit system
