UltraScope and Thunderbolt / Sonnet xMac Mini Server?

PostTue Aug 28, 2012 3:34 pm

Hi Again,
An interesting low cost, small footprint solution we're looking at for setting up Ultrascope is this:

http://sonnettech.com/product/xmacminiserver.html

However, the Sonnet website says that the PCIe cards used have to be Thunderbolt Compatible and in on their compatibility page it lists most BMD video cards as being compatible but the Ultrascope card is not listed:

Is this an oversight on Sonnet's part or would the Ultrascope card not work in the PCIe slots on this server?

This doesn't answer your question at all... but we worked out it is far, far cheaper to use a cheap Windows PC for Ultrascopes in our Resolve suite, rather than use a Mac mini.

The Ultrascope software does have fairly strict GPU specs - so maybe that's why it's not supported on a Mac mini?
