Transfer: Error Code -36

PostMon Jun 29, 2015 5:02 pm

Hi there, on a shoot yesterday, we did not have internet connection to update brand new, out of the box's Blackmagic 4k's firmware. We had our tech format our SSD (SanDisk 480GB Extreme Pro Solid State Drive) to exFAT (as we have done for many shoots on rented BMP equipment) and began shooting in ProRes 422. No issues whatsoever until transfer began- then (Error code -36).

I'm running on OS X Yosemite V 10.10.1 on a late 2013 MBP. Have never had issues using the exact same hardware before.

I'm wondering if it's a firmware issue, or of anyone has had similar errors? All our ProRes files are there, and play off the SSD card fine.

Thanks for your help!

error code -36 is a mac drive mounting issue.
the drive is bad, or the connection is unstable

Usually these errors are associated with a problem with the drive dock or cable connected to the computer. Sometimes it's a computer software-related issue (old dock driver software, etc.)

Try a different drive dock or cable and/or the same dock or cable connected to a different Mac.

Let us know what you find out.

In future if at all possible install current firmware on the camera before shooting. A "new" camera might not have current firmware installed.

If there is a problem with Mac file system due to Mac External Hard Drive Error Code 36 While Copying Files then you may try this

Insert the Mac Bootable CD/Flash drive and restart the PC.
Click on “Install Mac OS X” option.
Continuously press “C” button from your keyboard.
Accept the license agreement & select the desired language.
Choose the destination drive which has the problem. In general, click on “Macintosh HD”.
After that click on “Options” icon to select the installation method. Further, if you want to save your personal file folders, networking accounts & user accounts click on “Archive to Install” & select “Preserve Users and Network Settings.
Restart your Mac system and reply to configuration prompt.
Maybe you'll find some help here.
