Equipment that Uses usb 2.0

PostSat Jan 19, 2013 7:30 am

I have a jvc hm100 camera that has a usb 2.0 port. I have a macbook pro using osx that has a usb 2.0 port and a pc using window 7 with 2.0 port. I edit with premiere and final cut 7. I want to be able to record straight from the camera into either software.

1. The intensity uses usb 3.0 or thurnderbolt. Thunderbolt works for the mac computer but not the pc. Is there a piece of equipment that can be recommended that works with usb 2.0? Or will the intensity that uses usb 3.0 work with the 2.0?

My object is to see the video as it goes into the computer.

I am afraid that you have misunderstood the function of USB port on that camera, it doesn't output live video through that connector.

However, Blackmagic has a product for your needs:

That is USB2.0 connectable device which can be connected to any analog or digital video & audio feed.
It does compression to H.264 format with data rates suitable for USB2.0.
It comes with Media Express software which gives desktop preview while recording.
