Cannot load graphic card driver

PostThu Jul 21, 2016 10:33 am

Hey guys, don't know if any of you guys encountered this issue.
So I have a Blackmagic Design Intensity Pro 4K card, and I've plugged it into the only PCI slot that it can fit on a Ubuntu workstation.
Then I tried to install driver and everything following the read me file.
Then I cannot load it, and I can not see the card under lsmod.

Anyone here can help?

Code: Select all
qatest@qatest-Vostro-260:~$ lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:    Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS
Release:        16.04
Codename:       xenial
qatest@qatest-Vostro-260:~$ lspci | grep Blackmagic
01:00.0 Multimedia video controller: Blackmagic Design Intensity Pro 4K
qatest@qatest-Vostro-260:~$ lsmod | grep Blackmagic
qatest@qatest-Vostro-260:~$ dkms status -m blackmagic -k `uname -r`
blackmagic, 10.7a18, 4.4.0-31-generic, x86_64: installed
qatest@qatest-Vostro-260:~$ sudo modprobe Blackmagic
[sudo] password for qatest:
modprobe: FATAL: Module Blackmagic not found in directory /lib/modules/4.4.0-31-generic
qatest@qatest-Vostro-260:~$ sudo modprobe blackmagic
modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'blackmagic': Exec format error

And if I launch Media Express, I'll see error message "Blackmagic hardware could not be found in your system. Please check the installation"

BYW, I saw someone had same issue, but he didn't explain how he resolved that.
I am not allowed to share the URL of that topic, the title is ""No Desktop Video device detected" Desktop_Video_Linux_10.5"

Thanks in advance

Hey thank you for the reply. I've found the reason I have this issue is cause I installed with deb\i386 rather than deb\amd64. Seems amd64 is the one for 64 bit system no matter you are using Intel or AMD. That's why.

I am facing similar issue with latest driver - Can anyone explain if they got it working and what did they have to do get it working?

I did install a 64bit driver and no luck.

Please someone help.

Update: After digging a bit found out that the module is built correctly but not signed.
See error message :

modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'blackmagic': Required key not available
