IP CCTV camera with BlackMagic Media Express

PostSun Feb 12, 2017 5:17 pm

Hello,
we are no AV experts and our questions might seem quite ignorant. Any help is thus appreciated.

we have been using analog CCTV and Intensity Shuttle to record video with BlackMagic Media Express.
we are using these cameras in a research lab settings.

now we plan to upgrade to IP CCTV cameras. These can be plugged into the computer directly vie ethernet cable.

Can BlackMagic Media Express record directly from that ethernet input or will we need to attach the IP cameras to a capture system like Intensity Shuttle?

The CCTV recording software available is useless to us due to the way files are named: we need to assign specific names to files prior to recording, and Media Express works very well for us.

Thanks,
Olli.

You will need to get the video in to a capture card as you are doing now.

Thanks -- do you know whether there is a way to directly connect an IP camera to a BlackMagic capture card, and if so, which card would be best?
On a related issue: would it be better to have an Intensity Shuttle or one of the PCI-e capture cards?

If the system is going to be in place long term I prefer the cards. Not sure how it could be done on your IP cameras. Do they not have any video out?
