No Device Detected

Enthusiastic but... I installed the Mini Recorder PCIe card as well as the software from the SD card (Nov 2016) and restarted the computer, but when I open Black Magic Media Express it says "No Device Detected." I tried connecting my Sony Alpha 7 via HDMI and began recording on the camera, and still No Device Detected in Media Express. Disk Speed Test works and my PCIe Graphics Card works. I don't see any link to upload new drivers, or any similar topic in this Forum. Thanks for any help.

In device manager, are there any Decklink devices listed? Any unknown devices?

Yes, the Decklink device is listed but with an exclamation point. When I click on it, it says: "Impossible to find the digital signature of the driver" even though the driver has been updated.

Make sure your Windows is up to date and that you have the SHA-2 update installed. All modern drivers have to be SHA-2 compliant so if you don't have the update installed then the driver won't load

I would try uninstalling, rebooting, reinstalling, rebooting, and then check again. You could also try disabling driver signature verification from the advanced boot menu just to see if the card is working otherwise.

Thanks. I uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled 10.8.4, and rebooted again but there's still the exclamation mark on Decklink in the hardware list. There is no command to disable driver signature verification in the advanced boot menu of my UEFI, but I followed the instructions at
http://en.miui.com/thread-237673-1-1.html to type in some code at Admin Command Prompt. Then I rebooted and but there's still the exclamation mark on Decklink in the hardware list.

Sometimes swapping the card to a different PCI slot has helped me get the card detected (I run 3 different cards). Usually see an icon in the task bar with green scrolling line across it indicating that the driver/firmware is updating after changing slots.

Not sure if this affects Win 7, but you could check in the BIOS and turn off secure boot

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I don't have another PCI slot (I would have to lose my graphics card), and in my BIOS "Secure boot" is already disabled.
I found out that only some motherboards are compatible with the Decklink Mini Recorder, and my motherboard isn't one of them. I would be willing to get a new motherboard (I was planning to buy a BMD camera eventually), but since BlackMagic hasn't even replied to my email request for support I'm tempted to send the Decklink back to Amazon for a refund and move on to a different manufacturer.
The promotional literature for this product says it's compatible with WIN 7 and other operating systems, but doesn't say only some motherboards are compatable. Only after you buy it do you find that out.

I had the same issue with the Mini Recorder 4K, but installing the latest version of the software (10.8.5. Feb 27) did the trick.

Thanks. I should have confirmed the compatibility with my motherboard before I bought it. I've already returned the mini recorder for a refund. If somebody from Support had told me they were working on another software update I would have waited.

Same problem with my Intensity Pro 4K and a dual Xeon-based editing system. I get the unsigned driver error many times during install and when it reboots, the driver isn't loaded because it's not digitally signed.
I'm on my sixth install attempt. I've tried the hacks for disabling driver signing, and I've even tried a tool to patch the driver to supposedly make it digitally signed. Nothing works.
The irony is this is my second Intensity Pro card. The first one installed with difficulty on a 10 year old Core2 Quad but after 3 attempts, it finally worked. But on the new SuperMicro dual Xeon, it just won't install no matter what.
Back to Amazon for a refund.

I get the same issues....on a very old PC and it worked....Udated my system to an i7, ..and all hell is let loose ....sometimes the card does not show at all...after some playing with drivers from the earliest I found , I finally got my Duo to show in Device Manager, but I get No Video Device Detected shows up...finally got it to show, but only one input shows....I used to get both channels showing....now I only get one SDI input....placed another card in, and that only shows one side as well, so I have to use 2 cards, to get 2 inputs....instead of 4....I am just fed up and tired of these BM cards....months I am trying to find a solution...still no luck....

This is usually caused by a miss-match in card firmware vs Desktop Video version.
You will get this miss-match when you ignore the "Restart your computer" message.
I have experienced this and found it best to:
un-install Desktop Video.
Power Down computer.
Remove cards.
Power On computer.
install Desktop Video sownftware.
Shutdown computer.
Install cards
Power on computer
Wait for all the bing-bong device detection noises and then you see popup windows saying cards need firmware update (if they need it).
I have 4 BMD cards in one of my computers and this has worked for me.
I also dissable power management (run in Windows High PowerMode and turn off any Bios power management features), this helps heaps with USB 3 capture devices.
