There is position for 20 cards inside the frame, but the rear panels of the cards are double ? Does it mean the we can put only 10 cards inside the frame ?
Is there any connector for the video reference signal on the back side of the frame which is distributed between the cards ?
Does embedded audio pass through HDSDI distribution and UP/DOWN/Cross converter ?
Do we still have embedded audio on the SDI out of De-embedder ( SDI to Audio card) ?
Which connectors are used for the audio 110ohm audio output ? Are they come with the cards or we have to order it separately ?
Thanks ?

Hi,

Each OpenGear card will take up two slots due to the rear panel of each. So indeed a 20 slot frame will accommodate up to 10 Blackmagic cards.

The OpenGear cards are like the Mini Converters and do not have reference inputs, and do not take reference from the frame. The one exception being the OpenGear UpDownCross which has it's own reference input. Of course the Sync Generator has 10 reference outputs.

Embedded audio will pass through the UpDownCross, SDI Distribution and SDI to Audio. The audio is not stripped.

The audio connector used is a WECO 3 pin connector. These are included with the OpenGear card, but you can find the one here if you need to.

OK ! I just received 4 frames with different cards ! Interesting, for Up/Down/Cross converters and SD/HD SDI distribution I could not find where are the inputs and where are the outputs...there are only J1, J2...J7 BNC connectors ! Does anyone from BM could tell me more about labels on this back panel ! Where are the inputs and where are the outputs ?
Thanks !

Ok! There is the picture of the backplane on the cards !? But without J1....J10 labels...

BMD Opengear cards :
All cards CAN be removed from the frame without removing the rear frame
EXCEPT
The HDMI to SDI
The SDI to HDMI
and the Optical to SDI

When you look at the Opengear models page you will see that the cards that cannot be removed have bulkhead connectors that fix to the rear connector for physical integrity

The Cards work exactly in the same fashion as the portable Mini Convertor : care should always be taken to read the technical specification, especially if you require the next generation of 3G progressive 50 / 60 P formats

Hi!

I have a frame with 10 cards HDMI to SDI converter. We have installed the dashboard software and connect to the frame but see only the slot 0 and none of the others cards. Can you help me with this problem?

Thank you,
Cristian

Try updating the BMD cards. Do this by running the Converters Utility and connecting to the mini USB connector on the front edge of the card. The Utility will give a notice if it detects older firmware to upgrade and then prompt you to do so.
